Northeast Michigan Industrial Association
Annual Meeting
November 23,1999
PRESIDENTS
REPORT
NMIA is in its' third year of operation and
continues to mature. Our effectiveness
in delivering services to our members has improved significantly. We are now readily recognized throughout the local
community as a strong and effective organization. The
local educators now recognize NMIA and actively seek our participation in the educational
system.
The Board of Directors has taken strong action
throughout the year in planning the services and activities for our members. I believe that the most significant action
the Board has taken was the development of our Organizations 1999 Objectives. These objectives targeted and implemented in 1999
have made us a better and more effective organization.
We all owe the Board of Directors our thanks and appreciation!

OBJECTIVES:
·
Training seminar program:
This year the NMIA offered the popular
Principles and Practices of Leadership 1 for the third time. We also sponsored the Dale Carnegie
Program which attracted individuals from a wide variety of businesses. Both of these seminars are examples of how the
NMIA is sponsoring programs that benefit the community as well as the association.
·
Education System Involvement:
NMIA is now recognized in the Education
system as a vocal and viable force in the community.
As a member of the local Work Force Task Force, we have helped to open the
door for participation in the education system. We
are a member of the newly formed Ogemaw County
Business & Education Alliance that is
a partnership between business and education. Business
partners now are participating in the newly formed Academic Center at OHHS. This is a great beginning!
·
Scholarship Program:
NMIA has developed a college scholarship
program offered to all employees of NMIA member companies.
Two $500 scholarships are being offered for the fall term in 2000. Jim Edgar, Toni Ott and their team did an
excellent job developing a program that we have discussed many times in the past.
·
Association Growth:
NMIA General Membership
increased by 33% while our Associate Membership reduced by 21% with an overall growth rate
year-to-year of 14%. This is an outstanding
achievement and is the direct result of the efforts of Conrad Kroening.
·
Update Membership
Book:
An updated NMIA membership directory was
published for 1999-2000. The team lead by Jeri Orlando did and outstanding job making this
happen.
·
Improve Public Awareness:
The NMIA is now recognized by more people
in the community due to the actions and activities of all of our members. Community leaders and educators now
recognize and respect our organization and actively seek our participation and advice.
·
Annual Golf Outing:
The 2nd annual
NMIA golf outing was better attended and more successful than the first. It is so important to take time out to
relax, have fun and socialize and thanks to Mike Quigley and his team, we were able to do
just that this year. There is a lot to be
said for the old saying Enjoy life, go outside and play with your toys. We did, thanks Mike.
SUMMARY:
1999 was a great year for NMIA, we learned how to
be more effective as a team and we accomplished what we set out to do. 2000 promises to be even better.
Thanx for the opportunity to serve the NMIA
